How will it be done?
The Over-the-Hill Community Development Partnership Initiative is a true partnership to develop and revitalize the area. This involves Government, private businesses, University of The Bahamas, community groups and Over-the-Hill residents working together.
How long will it take?
The project has three phases:
Phase 1: Assessment &
Clean Up (November 2017 to April 2018)
Phase 2: Launch of
Over-the-Hill Rejuvenation Project (May 2018 to April 2019)
Phase 3: Launch of Longer
Term Planning Projects (May 2019)
What will I see?
During Phase 1:
Promote and strengthen
e-learning within preschools (use of tablets to help teaching)
Improve solid waste
management (community clean-up, removal of derelict vehicles and
- Improve availability of water
(sewerage pilot, improve standpipes, pilot smart metering of water)
- Improve management and
maintenance of public parks (improve park safety/include installing
public restrooms at parks)
- Develop a white paper on tax
incentives for the Over-the-Hill community
- Strengthening community
support programs (eg. a single app and website with a schedule of
all community events)
